We make films about the things the forest remembers.
Cince is an independent Finnish production company. Our films grow out of Nordic nature and Finnish mythology: spruce forests, black water and the long twilight where the line between this world and Tuonela grows thin.
We write, shoot and finish our work in-house, from the first image to the final grade. Alongside horror, we tell documentary stories from the same landscapes.

TUONELA
Story of Emppu · Empun tarina
In 1990s Eastern Finland, border guard Emppu loses his wife, Pirre, in an accident. Grief draws him to an old legend: a light above Lake Paasvesi marks a gateway to Tuonela, the realm of the dead.
Believing he can bring Pirre back, Emppu sacrifices his life to cross the threshold. There he encounters something that wears her face and feeds on his grief. Emppu returns, but the ruler of Tuonela has taken hold of his body. As the light over the lake grows stronger, an ancient evil enters the world of the living.

Producer
HannuPutkuri
Hannu has worked in film and media production for almost fifteen years. He runs Karelian Kaitafilmi, a production company making commercials and documentary work for clients across North Karelia and Savo, from script and camera to edit and grade.
A lifelong film fanatic, he counts Paul Verhoeven, M. Night Shyamalan and Denis Villeneuve among his influences, and cares deeply about sound design. At Cince he produces the company's own features, bringing a commercial production workflow to independent Nordic horror.
